Nordic Viola - On a Wing and a Prayer Sunday 7 June at 6pm and 8pm
On a Wing and a Prayer – doing something in the hope that you will succeed despite being insufficiently prepared. Taking this figure of speech as a starting point for humankind’s approach to the climate crisis, Nordic Viola enters into musical conversation with West Highland composer, Lisa Robertson.
Together they explore the Atlantic Rainforest of the Morvern peninsula and the community's relationship to the land, drawing on its power and resources whilst working in harmony with nature. From coast to mountain via stream and woodland, they explore a range of emotions from the bleakness of habitat loss through the teeming life of the rainforest and towards the hope of a more harmonious existence between humankind and nature.
In a blend of instrumental and natural sound with poetic fragments by Kathleen Jamie, Lisa Robertson and Nordic Viola create a unique and reflective soundscape for string trio.
Audiences will be able to meet the performers and composer before and after the performance over a drink to share their own experiences of the forests and water courses around Dunblane and beyond.
